Why DeWanda Wise Was Replaced?
Lashana Lynch played the character of Maria Rambeau in Kevin Feige’s Marvel Cinematic Universe ‘Captain Marve’. However, it was found out that it was originally to be played by DeWanda Wise, according to a recently published article in THE DIRECT.
Maria Rambeau’s character played as Carol’s bestfriend and wingman. The movie might look differently if it was Wise played the character but she was replaced in 2019. Maria’s most important role in the ‘Captain Marvel’ is to reconnect Carol with her past through their shared experiences with the help of Maria’s daughter, Monica.
Meanwhile, DeWanda Wise clarified during the press tour for ‘Jurassic World: Dominion; that she did not choose to leave the project in MCU or the ‘Captain Marvel’. However, it is the contract she signed for Season 2 of ‘She’s Gotta Have It’ with Netflix and director Spike Lee that could not let her accept ‘Captain Marvel’s role.

Is There A Chance That MCU Will Give Her Another Character?
The MCU clarified that there is no problem between DeWanda Wise and the MCU. They understand the reason why DeWanda Wise could not accept the offer their offer that time and this normally happened in the entertainment industry.
In a published article in Inside The Magic, her fate in the MCU remains unknown but she is now working along with other MCU stars like Chris Patt and Jeff Goldblum. This could mean that Marvel Studios could give her a character in the future.
