Saving a 2-Year-Old Girl from Alleged Drowning by Mother in Bathtub

The horrific circumstances of the night that a Michigan mother reportedly attempted to kill her 2-Year-Old Girl daughter. Incident were captured on police camera film while the other kids cried out for assistance.

Around 10:30 am, deputies from the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office went to the house. The house is on Bluestem Court in Albion after one of the woman’s other kids managed to dial 911. When they arrived at the house, Jessica Edward-Ricks, 35, was reportedly stooped over a bathtub, attempting to drown her 2-year-old girl child.

Officers can be seen removing the little child from the tub in the footage.

“When the police arrived, they heard noise coming from the house’s closed door. A 35-year-old lady was discovered in the bathtub with a 2-year-old girl child. After an ADPS officer forced the door open, according to Albion police.

She was unconscious when the cops pulled the toddler from the water. Fortunately, the responding police officers were able to give her some fast CPR, which preserved her life.

The infant started coughing up water and eventually started breathing on her own, according to the authorities.

Officers noticed that the toddler had chest stab wounds after the youngster had been revived.

The other kids in the house were all hurt, and a 4-year-old boy was gushing blood from several bodily wounds. The two youngest kids had most likely consumed cleaning solution, according to further inquiry.

Police sent the mother to a hospital for treatment because they thought she had also consumed the cleaning solution.

Ages of the residents of the home were 2, 4, 8, and 15. The 15-year-old and 8-year-old didn’t seem to be hurt in any way. When they discovered that their mother had started injuring the youngest children, the oldest kid was able to contact the authorities.

There are two counts of attempted murder against Edward-Ricks. First-degree child abuse on two charges and second-degree child abuse on two offences.

The family is healing, and the two kids who were attacked by their mother are currently in stable condition.

The Albion Police Department “commended the quick actions of both ADPS Lt. Phipps and Deputy Winder of the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department,” according to an ADPS news statement. The 2-year-old’s life was saved thanks to their prompt response and bold efforts.
