Masaka police arrest suspected ADF commander, recover nine guns

The ADF agent was stopped by the Police of Uganda while riding a motorcycle in Kyali-Kyalugo village, Nyendo Mukungwe Division in Masaka City, central Uganda. Police also discovered some explosive devices and nice rifles. Ali Katende is the suspect’s name; he is a top ADF Leader of the Nyendo of Masaka terror cell informed by Fred Enanga, a Police spokesperson. The Police Team caught him before he could show investigators his explosive materials like seven SMGs, a pistol, IEDs, and a PK machine gun.

The cell was tied to the ones in Maganjo and Matugga and also attacked Police stations, as told by CP Enanga. The police also gave a chance to surrender Ali Katende alias Mao, chief of the Nyendo terror group. These are attacks already planned out of Masaka. Maganjo and Matuga, these two terror cells, also collaborate with the Nyendo terror group. All three would prepare to attack Police forces and people.

The police found the information from the input of intelligence after then they caught the ADF chief. After that, the police found Ali Katende. Mr Enanga told the media on Sunday “Before adding that some of the guns had been used previously in attacks on Kabadazza and Busiika police stations.

After Katende Ali, Arrested in Masaka, people were interested in the details about the terror group’s leader. With the help of combined troops of the UPDF and the Congolese military of FARC, another ADF commander was assassinated in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

The spokesperson of the UPDF Brig. Felix Kulayigye informed the media that “another ADF leader of Somali descent named Abu Aden, was allegedly killed earlier this week in a fight near Malulu, seven kilometres from the northwest of Boga town. Brig. Kulayigye further explained the incident “we got this success because our human intelligence reports the right information about the real location of ADF terrorists who were seeking directions to their operation at the areas of Mitego”.

Six other ADF members were also killed in the combat, as claimed by the Ugandan, while they also found Sub Machine Gun, Solar Penal and Nicko battery from the terror group. A police officer stopped the ADF agent while he was on the bike; they found the Katende in Kyali-Kyalugo village, Nyendo Mukungwe Divison, at Masaka City in central Uganda. They found a different type of explosive material and nine guns from the Katende Ali. The Uganda police flying squad caught him on behalf of intelligence-driven operations.
