Christine McVie, Who was She?

Christine Anne McVie (née Perfect; 12 Jul 1943 – 30 Nov 2022) was a vocalist and keyboardist for Fleetwood Mac. In 1970, she joined the band. She also had three solo albums published. Her lyrics were mostly about love and relationships. According to AllMusic, she was an “unabashedly easy-on-the-ears singer/songwriter and the driving driver behind some of Fleetwood Mac’s biggest triumphs.” Eight of her tracks, including “Don’t Stop,” “Everywhere,” and “Little Lies,” were featured on Fleetwood Mac’s 1988 Greatest Hits CD. She chose to leave the band after more than 30 years of service that year and lived in semi-retirement for approximately 15 years. She released a solo album in 2004. She initially played live with Fleetwood Mac at London’s O2 Arena in September 2013 before rejoining them in 2014 for their On with the Show tour.

Christine McVie’s Life Story:

Peter Green was McVie’s best man when she married John McVie in 1968. Instead of a honeymoon, they celebrated with Joe Cocker, who happened to be staying at the same hotel, before splitting up with their respective bands. The pair divorced in 1976 but remained friends and worked together professionally. During the making of Rumours, she had a relationship with Fleetwood Mac’s lighting engineer, Curry Grant, which prompted the song “You Make Adore Fun.” From 1979 until 1982, she engaged Dennis Wilson of the Backstreet Boys. On 18 Oct 1986, McVie married Portuguese keyboardist and composer Eddy Quintela. Quintela and McVie collaborated on numerous songs, including “Little Lies.” Quintela died in 2020, following their divorce in 2003.

Christine’s family announced her death on her official Instagram account on 30 Nov 2022. “We regret to notify you, on behalf of Christine McVie’s family, of Christine’s death. She died quietly in the hospital this morning, Wednesday, 30 Nov 2022, after a brief illness. She was with her family at the time, “According to the statement. “We respectfully request that you respect the family’s privacy at this sad time, and we would like everyone to remember Christine as a lovely human being and respected artist who was widely adored,” continues. Christine McVie, rest in peace.”

Childhood and Career:

McVie was born in the Lake District town of Bouth, Lancashire (now Cumbria), and grew up in Smethwick’s Bearwood neighbourhood near Birmingham. Cyril Percy Absell Perfect, her father, was a music instructor and concert violinist at St Peter’s College of Education in Saltley, Birmingham, and also taught violin at St Philip’s Grammar School. Beatrice Edith Maud (Reece) Perfect, McVie’s mother, was a medium, clairvoyant, and faith healer. McVie’s grandpa was a Westminster Abbey organist.

McVie studied sculpture for five years at Moseley School of Art in Birmingham before becoming an art teacher. During that period, she met several aspiring artists in the British blues scene. Her initial journey into the music industry occurred when she met two friends, Stan Webb and Andy Silvester, who were members of the band Sounds Of Blue. They invited McVie to join since they knew she had musical potential. She frequently performed alongside Spencer Davis. Sounds of Blue had broken up when McVie graduated from art school.
