Anderson Lee Aldrich, 22, has been named as the perpetrator who reportedly killed five people before being caught by two clubgoers at a gay club in Colorado.

Anderson Lee Shot in ClubQ:

Aldrich is suspected of opening fire on Club Q attendees in Colorado Springs, killing five people and injuring 18. In June 2021, he was arrested for making several bomb threats and refused to submit to authorities. According to the El Paso Sheriff’s Department, police received allegations from Aldrich’s mother on June 18, 2021, indicating that Aldrich was “threatening to inflict damage to her with a homemade bomb, various guns, and ammo.” His mother, who was not identified by police, informed investigators she had no idea where her kid was. Police conducted an investigation and spotted him holed up inside a neighbouring residence. They called Aldrich, but he refused to surrender.

The Shooting Lasted Just Minutes.

The violence lasted only a few minutes. Numerous 911 calls were made beginning at 11:56 midnight, officers were called at 11:57 midnight, one officer arrived at midnight, and the subject was apprehended at 12:02 a.m., according to police. Police stated 39 patrol officers responded, while Fire Dept Captain Mike Smaldino said 11 ambulances were dispatched to the location. Aldrich was using a rifle or shotgun in the shooting, and two guns were discovered at the site, according to Vasquez, the police chief. Joshua Thurman told CNN station KOAA that he was dancing inside the club when he heard the gunshots and saw a gun flare. Thurman claimed he went to a dressing room to hide when he heard another volley of bullets. He claimed to have heard additional gunshots, people weeping, and windows destroyed. He walked out to see victims on the ground, shattered glass, and blood.

What Occurred Late Saturday Night at Club Q?

A 22-year-old shooter used a semiautomatic weapon to kill five people and hurt 25 others inside an LGTBQ+ nightclub in Colorado Springs late Saturday night. Authorities said Sunday that the man, identified as Anderson Lee Aldrich, was restrained by “heroic” diners and apprehended by police, who arrived within minutes. According to Colorado Springs Mayor John Suthers, Aldrich is being treated for injuries sustained when someone stole a firearm from the gunman and struck him with it.

Police Reaction to the Club Q Disaster:

It is horrifying, terrible, and tragic. My heart goes to the friends and families of those killed, maimed, or traumatised in this senseless massacre. I met with Mayor Suthers and made it plain that every state resource is available to Colorado Springs police enforcement. We will be forever thankful to the courageous individuals who stopped the gunman, likely saving lives, and to the first responders who came quickly to this awful attack. Colorado mourns alongside our LGBT community and everyone affected by this tragedy.
