A recent increase in armed robberies on Chicago’s Northwest Side caused the municipal police department to issue a public advisory, expressing worries about public safety. Authorities reported 19 cases over the weekend, each involving a gang of two to three individuals brandishing firearms and targeting unsuspecting victims.

The thieves were reportedly using stolen vehicles, especially Kias and Hyundais, to help their criminal acts, which is a worrying tendency. The suspects exited the stolen automobiles quickly and confronted pedestrians and motorists at gunpoint, demanding their possessions and cash. Residents and visitors have been put on edge as the Northwest Side, which is normally thought to be a relatively safe region, grapples with this sudden and shocking crime wave.
The Chicago Police Department has asked folks to be cautious and use caution when travelling or strolling in the affected areas. They have urged people to be alert of their surroundings, in order to avoid wandering alone at night, and to report any unusual activity immediately. - On August 6, at 5:31 a.m., in the 4000 block of W Armitage Ave.
- On August 6, around 10:50 a.m., in the 1300 block of N Moorman St.
- On August 6, around 11:15 a.m., in the 2800 block of W Diversey Ave.
- On August 6, around 11:40 a.m., in the 4300 block of W Schubert Ave.
- On August 6, around 11:40 a.m., in the 4300 block of W Schubert Ave.
- On August 6, around 11:50 a.m., in the 3200 block of W Fullerton Ave.
- On August 6, around 11:50 a.m., the -2100-block of N Spaulding Ave.
- On August 6, around 11:50 a.m., in the 1800 block of N Spaulding Ave.
- On August 6, around 12:05 p.m., in the 1600 block of N Drake Ave.
- On August 6, around 12:10 p.m., in the 1400 block of N Cicero Ave.
