Tributes Paid to Greg Bear:

Greg Bear, a friend of mine, died today. Irene Svete and I spent the evening with his wife, Astrid, and I was glad to see her, delighted to help bring some normalcy to her shattered world, if only for a little while. I don’t know how Greg and Astrid became part of my social group. Or maybe I walked into theirs. It indeed came from the science fiction community. But I have no recollection of ever meeting them. They have always been present in my Seattle existence. We’ve become closer over the previous ten years or so, possibly much longer. We got together for themed dinners. We spent time watching movies together.
