Joseph American actor, model, and producer Jason Namakaeha Momoa became well-known for his recurring parts in the television programs Baywatch Hawaii and Stargate: Atlantis. His portrayal of Khal Drogo in the hit television series Game of Thrones significantly elevated his profile and propelled his career forward, catching the interest of producers and general viewers. He started out as a model before branching out into acting. Takeo, a renowned worldwide fashion designer, helped him break into the modeling industry. He was quickly at the height of his modeling career and was also crowned Hawaii’s Model of the Year because of his incredible body and good features. Before beginning his acting career, he walked the runway at several prominent fashion events. He became a busy actor due to his title role in the movie Conan the Barbarian, which opened doors for more film parts. In 1998, Jason Momoa was seen by renowned fashion designer Takeo Kobayashi. Kobayashi urged the young man to pursue modeling. In doing so, Momoa was named the 1999 Model of the Year in Hawaii. He then went on to emcee the Miss Teen Hawaii pageant. He was cast in the action drama television series Baywatch Hawaii in 1999 as “beach man” Jason Ioane. For two seasons, he was a regular cast member and appeared in all 38 episodes. He had never before appeared on camera. The program terminated in 2001. In the 2003 television movie Baywatch: Hawaiian Wedding, he played Jason Ioane once more. He starred as Kala in the television film Tempted that same year.
He made his screen debut in the 2004 movie Johnson Family Vacation by Christopher Erskin. He was a regular for 21 episodes of North Shore the same year after landing the part of Frankie Seau. When he was cast as Ronon Dex in the 2005 military science fiction television series Stargate: Atlantis, for which he had to acquire martial arts, his fame was further increased. All five seasons of Stargate: Atlantis, which was based on the 1994 motion picture Stargate, were shown in the US on Sci-Fi Channel. 2009 saw the end of the series.
His Ronon Dex sported big dreadlocks that were his trademark. He requested permission from the producers to have the dreadlocks removed before to the start of season five since they were causing him headaches and neck problems. For the first three episodes, the dreadlocks were sewn into the character’s hair by the producers. However, they opted to remove the locks when it turned into a nine-hour process and Momoa found it too uncomfortable. He then began using wigs with dreads sewn on them, and eventually, a special wig was created for him.
