Movie experts predicted that the new sequel ‘Minions: Rise of Gru’ is expected to break the record on the 4th of July.
Huge Opening of ‘Minions: Rise of Gru’
Minions are back and their new animated movie continues to dominate the different theaters worldwide. It has a huge opening four-day ahead of the 4th of July holiday amounting to $129.2 million domestically, according to a report published in The Hollywood Reporter.
Some movie experts and critics said that it will hit the $140 million mark but it might be bigger than that. In the same report, ‘Minions: Rise of Gru’ will reach $86 million by Sunday. Just on Friday alone, the animated film earned an estimated amount of $48 million from 4,400 theaters.
This is very significant for the ‘Minions: Rise of Gru’ because if the huge number of people coming to the theaters continues, then they might break the record and become the “highest-grossing animated film” in history. This also means that people of all ages are now ready to go back to theaters to watch movies despite the present global situation.
Animated Films Having Problems During the Pandemic Time
Animated films are one of the movie genres that are heavily affected by the global pandemic. Recently, the Pixar and Disney’s Toy Story spin-off ‘Lightyear’ only earned $51 million last month. However, the animated movie could still achieve its expected milestone after it hit $1o0 million domestically on Friday, according to a report published in The Daily Beast.
Needless to say, the progress and development of ‘Minions: Rise of Gru’ is a sign of hope for other creators and producers of animated films. Hopefully, there will be more animated films that will be released this year that not only entertain but also gives lessons to children.
