The President of the United States Joe Biden is expected to provide an update to the new omicron COVID-19 variant that is now rapidly spreading globally.

Dr. Anthony Fauci said it will take roughly two weeks to gather more data to learn the definitive information about the Omicron variant that includes its transmissibility, severity, and other characteristics of the new variant.
Moreover, President Joe Biden met with Fauci the chief medical adviser on COVID-19 with the other members of the White House COVID-19 Response Team on Sunday, two days after the World Health Organization (WHO) emerge a meeting to discuss the new COVID-19 strain, that they labeled it as a variant of concern.
Since the Omicron variant was first discovered days ago in South Africa, it rapidly spread in another country several other nations, including Germany, Australia, Canada, Italy, the United Kingdom, Belgium, Hong Kong, and Israel. As a result over the weekend, Biden instituted new travel restrictions in the U.S. starting by Monday from the eight-nation of Africa to impose a travel ban to slowdown the international spread of the new strain.
Dr. Anthony Fauci Warns The U.S.
Although the Omicron variant has not yet been determined in America, however, Dr. Anthony Fauci said on ABC News’ “This Week” on Sunday that “Inevitably, it will be here,” then he added, “The question is, will we be prepared for it?”.
As for Dr. Fauci imposing a travel ban will not make an assurance to keep America away from the new strain but to delay the coming from the country and from the time being medical experts can utilize the time to gather the information as needed to fully understand the variant.
In the meantime, Dr. Fauci and the Biden Administration urged people to be fully vaccinated and all eligible adults should get the booster of COVID-19 because as for the White House “likely to provide a degree of protection against severe cases of COVID.”
