Background of ‘The Northman’
Through the eyes of Amleth, played by Stellan Skarsgard, who has been damaged by witnessing the death of his father King Aurvandil (Ethan Hawke) at the hands of his uncle Fjolnir (Robert Eggers), the action-packed narrative unfolds (Claes Bang). Amleth (Nicole Kidman) escapes his homeland to seek vengeance on those responsible for the death of his father, King Gudrun (Nicole Kidman).
Robert Eggers’ The Witch debuted at the top of A24 at the conclusion of the new wave of horror, when the found footage cinema genre ultimately collapsed to the ground for the last time. As the film progresses, it becomes more unnerving to see the misery of a cursed witch play out on a family beset by uncertainty and guilt.
As a result of the popularity of The Witch, A24 and the horror genre have seen an avalanche of gruesome dramas follow suit. A24 and Eggers followed up with The Lighthouse four years later, which received comparable critical acclaim. The director’s fondness for historical dramas and the languages that go along with them has led him time and time again to the icy isle of Iceland. The Northman’s Release Date
On April 22, 2022, The Northman premieres in cinemas alone. Despite a significant production delay, The Northman’s theatrical release date was pushed back from April 8 to April 22.
