The incident apparently occurred in Sydney on February 27, and police began investigating Taylor’s father, Scott Kingsley Swift, after paparazzo Ben McDonald filed a complaint about an alleged assault.
According to McDonald, he was “just out on the job chasing Taylor” as she “got off a super-yacht at Neutral Bay and walked up the wharf with an umbrella over her head”. He went on to say that she had “a couple of security [guards] around her,” and that they “sort of pushed us around with the umbrellas.”
The dispute occurred when Mr Swift and his daughter departed from a yacht, only hours after her final Eras Tour event in Sydney.
A video released by Australian media shows the singer, who is hidden beneath an umbrella, walking with her father and security guards along Neutral Bay Wharf at 02:30 local time (15:30 GMT).
Cameras flash before two voices, believed to be a photographer and a guard, accuse each other of touching umbrellas. It’s unclear whether the tape shows the claimed event.
However, the singer’s representative stated that “two individuals were aggressively pushing their way towards Taylor, grabbing at her security personnel, and threatening to throw a female staff member into the water.”
Mr Swift, dubbed “Papa Swift” by admirers of the pop icon, had been accompanying his daughter on her global Eras Tour and departed the nation immediately after the incident.
