The IRS will begin mailing Letter 6475, of the Third Economic Impact Payment, to EIP recipients in late January.

Thus the IRS has everything you need to know about your filing status if it lines up with what you received. Moreover, If you haven’t received the letter yet, don’t worry because the IRS is still in the process of mailing them all out to everyone. Furthermore, the agency is strongly suggesting that you keep this letter when it does arrive.

However, if you threw it away or if it didn’t arrive at all by the time tax filing season arrives, there might an issue that you’ll want to solve before you’re scrambling last minute. It’s unclear whether the letter will be accessible on the IRS child tax credit portals so better to keep it if you do find the letter in your mailbox.
