On September 3, 2012, Blanco and her pregnant daughter-in-law visited the Cardiso butcher shop situated on the corner of 29th Street in Medellín. Tragically, as she stepped out of the shop, an assailant riding a motorcycle fired two fatal shots, resulting in her untimely demise. The manner of the attack echoed the assassination methods Blanco was known for during the Miami Drug War.

Griselda Blanco met her first husband, Carlos Trujillo, when she was only 13 years old. Together, they had three sons in Medellín: Dixon, Uber, and Osvaldo. All three were born before Blanco turned 21. Although Blanco and Trujillo eventually divorced, they continued to work together in their business ventures. However, after a disagreement over a business deal, Blanco ordered Trujillo’s execution.

Following her divorce from Trujillo, Blanco married Alberto Bravo. Upon returning to Colombia, Blanco accused Bravo of embezzling millions from their enterprise, while Bravo accused Blanco of becoming too arrogant with her “Godmother” nickname. In a tragic turn of events, Blanco fatally shot Bravo in the head.

Blanco’s youngest son, Michael Corleone Blanco. She had him with her third husband, Darío Sepúlveda. Throughout her tumultuous relationships and ventures, Blanco’s life was marked by both triumphs and tragedies.
