Bruce Covernton was a Canadian professional football player. Bruce Covernton played as a tackle for the Calgary Stampeders of the Canadian Football League (CFL).
In the 1992 Canadian college draft, the Stampeders selected him as the first overall pick. Bruce Coverton emerged as a first-team All-American and All-Big Sky Conference player at Weber State University. He also participated in the NFL Combine in 1991.
Bruce was named the West’s top rookie in 1992 and top offensive lineman in 1993. He received division All-Star honors twice and was recognized as All-CFL in 1993.
His accomplishments were further enhanced by being part of Gray Cup championship teams in 1992 and 1998. Beyond football, Bruce Coverton served as the owner and CEO of a staffing company in Calgary and actively participated in various local charities.
