Albina Yevko, 14, died tragically after falling from the sea wall in a heartbreaking tragedy that shocked the Dawlish community. Alongside her mother Inna, Albina, a refugee from Ukraine, had relocated to the UK.
The event happened earlier in the year. When Albina plummeted to the concrete below, four meters from the wall’s exposed edge next to the railroad tracks. Despite several emergency services’ heroic attempts. Albina suffered severe impact injuries and eventually passed away after being discovered comatose on the beach.

The coast guard and police helicopter assisted in the searches. Albina was discovered unresponsive on Dawlish Beach. She died after being evacuated to the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital.
“We’re still investigating and trying to piece together Albina’s last hours,” DI Becky Davies stated. Officers are still doing door-to-door investigations. We look for any CCTV video or witnesses that could have captured Albina’s movements.
“Although the cause of this death is still unknown, we are not currently investigating it as suspicious.”

“We are awaiting the findings of the forensic postmortem, which is scheduled for this Thursday. However, we kindly request that Albina’s family and loved ones be allowed time and solitude to process their loss.

The community has been greatly impacted by Albina’s passing. where efforts were made to provide housing for those fleeing the conflict in Ukraine. In addition, funds will be raised to help those who remain in the nation.
In Dawlish, the Ukrainian flag was hoisted a week ago to mark a year since Russia’s invasion. Last year, dozens of visas were granted to allow Ukrainians to remain with Dawlish people. as well as the Teignmouth region under the government’s Homes for Ukraine initiative.
