Remembering Firefighter Jordan Melton
Woodfin referred to Melton in his remarks from Monday night as “vibrant” and “full of life.”
He enjoyed delicious BBQ almost as much as talking about sports. And was a talented businessman who was also usually up for a joke or two to lighten the situation, according to the mayor. He was a good son to his mother, who has stood by his side during these trying times.
Melton spent more than a year working with Birmingham Fire & Rescue. But, according to Mayor Woodfin, they graduated from the recruit academy a month ago.
“When I look at his picture, I can see hope and pride in his eyes. Now, so much of that potential won’t be realised, according to Woodfin.
Jordan and his fellow firemen had grown close, which made his passing even more devastating. Birmingham Fire is a family in every meaning of the word, and they are so much more than a group of workers. And that family is going through a lot of suffering right now,” he continued.
Melton was praised for his service by Birmingham Fire & Rescue in a different Twitter tweet on Monday night.
The fire department tweeted, “Today, we pause to honour your life and your legacy.” the phrase “End of Watch: 07-17-2023.”
