The Compromise Defense Policy Bill
The White House recently passed the bill with a bipartisan 316-113 vote, along with the 38 Democrats and 75 Republicans who vote against the bill. Furthermore, The NDAA comes with $768.2 billion that added $740 billion for the Department of Defense. The national security programs along with the Department of Energy will have a supported amount total of $27.8 Billion and another $378 million funding for the defense and protection-related activities. The numbers are very much higher than the $753 billion Biden proposed for his national defense budget, of which $715 billion is for the Department of Defense. Moreover, The measure of the bill was to include a 2.7 percent increase in military basic pay, which was recommended by the White House.
The Bill Covers a Wide Range of Issues
The proposal was to not include the commander in decisions to prosecute some crimes, including rape, sexual assault, murder, manslaughter, and kidnapping. The constitution also criminalizes sexual harassment under the Uniform Code of Military Justice and requires all claims of sexual harassment needs to be investigated by an independent investigator.
