Friday, together with the $2 trillion Build Back Better Package as part of its version, the House approved cybersecurity funding which cost more than $500 million. The social and climate spending bill with 220-213 votes will also secure and funnel those funds for Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA).

The amount of $100 million from the Build Back Better package contributes to CISA for cybersecurity risk mitigation issues. $100 million for training and workforce, $50 million funds to move and secure cloud architecture. Furthermore, another $50 million for research by expanding strategies to secure its industrial control systems.
The $35 million was allotted by the bill to provide CISA funding to the Multi-State Information Sharing and Analysis Center (MS-ISAC). The House provides $15 million to put an effort to train individuals for attaining cybersecurity.
In addition CISA’s CyberSentry Program that monitors networks of critical infrastructure groups for threats grant a $50 million budget. Aside from CISA, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) was also given a total of $100 Million to assist the state, local, territorial and tribal governments to recruit and train the cyber workforce, and to have more secure website domains.
House of Security Bennie Thompson, the committee chairman, stated during the passage of the bill last Friday “I could not be prouder that the House Democratic Majority came together today, with a sense of urgency, to deliver for the people and to tackle climate change and a wide range of other challenges that put our communities at risk,” Thompson added this statement “It also invests in the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency to help State and local governments develop secure and resilient critical infrastructure networks by, among other things, accelerating State and local governments’ transition to the .gov domain and increasing capacity to hire network defenders,”
Biden Administration Escalating Cyber Attacks
In the latest bill, Biden Administration is ramping up on cybersecurity together with the congress to place an effort for cybersecurity funds. Over the year of escalating cyberattacks on the organization. “The Administration has been ramping up its cyber-security efforts and encouraging private companies to do the same, especially since a malicious ransomware attack on US critical infrastructure company Colonial Pipeline in May.”
