Germany Travel Restrictions
After the United States is removed from Germany’s high-risk list, it will be possible to travel following a review by Germany’s federal ministries of health, foreign affairs, and community building. Americans won’t have to go through quarantine or go through multiple rounds of testing for COVID-19, for example.
Germany requires proof of vaccination or recovery from COVID-19 for all adults entering the country who are at least 12 years old. Since August 1, this rule has been in effect for citizens of all countries. Those who use public transportation, travel through Germany, or stay less than 24 hours are exempt from the requirement.
According to DW, the German government categorizes high-risk and virus-mutated areas. SARS-CoV-2 virus incidence rates are high in high-risk regions, resulting in an increased risk of infection. When it comes to coronavirus variants, the virus mutant areas are marked by their high prevalence. More than a dozen non-European countries—including the United States and Israel—are currently considered high-risk areas by the International Organization for Migration.

U.S. Removed From High-Risk List
However, on November 14, the United States was removed from Germany’s high-risk list following a review by Germany’s federal ministries of health, foreign affairs, and community building. Robert Koch Institute, Germany’s disease control and prevention agency, was the one who made the announcement.
Americans can now travel to Germany without undergoing quarantine because they have been removed from the high-risk list. However, if they have not been vaccinated against COVID-19 or have recently recovered from it, they will need to be tested for the virus.
According to Schengenvisainfo News, travelers over the age of 12 who have not been vaccinated must have a PCR test within the last 72 hours before arriving in Germany. In contrast, antigen tests must be taken within the previous 24 hours.
