Demetrius Calip was an American professional basketball player who was a key member of the 1989 NCAA Men’s Division I Basketball Champion University of Michigan Wolverines. Calip was born in Flint, Michigan, where his agility and talent helped him acquire instant popularity on the local courts. He went on to play a significant role on the Wolverines’ championship team before he moved for California to seek a professional basketball career. Calip is well-known not just for his professional basketball career but also for his roles in the movie Blue Chips (1994) and Eddie (1996).
