Stella Berry, a 16-year-old Australian girl, was attacked and killed by a shark in North Fremantle, near Perth.
She had previously made headlines for her invention, an ocean pool that would protect swimmers at a beautiful beach from shark attacks.

Stella berry was a very young girl and was very talented. In 2017 she designed a shark-free ocean pool as part of a school engineering project for Perth’s Cottesloe Beach.
Her parents remembered Berry as a “vibrant and happy girl” and a talented hockey player. Friends and sisters paid tribute to her on social media.
The site of the attack has become a makeshift memorial site. Stella was also a talented hockey player who had represented Western Australia in interstate competitions.
Stella Berry’s cause of death?
Stella Berry, from North Fremantle, Western Australia, was killed by a shark attack while swimming in the ocean at the Fremantle Traffic Bridge.
Stella Berry was riding a jet ski with her school friends. She decided to swim with the dolphins; a shark attacked her.
She was trying to swim with friends in North Fremantle, near the Swan River.
As a result of insufficient efforts to save her, the woman was declared dead at the scene.
Investigations are still underway to determine what kind of shark was involved, though Fisheries Minister Don Punch says it was probably a bull shark.
The last fatal attack on the Swan River occurred in 1923, making this the river’s seventh recorded historical attack.
The government is considering measures to reduce river risks, such as shark barriers, although drum lines aren’t part of a shark mitigation plan.
