On Tuesday night, history was created by Luka Doncic during the Mavericks’ 126-121 overtime win over the New York Knicks. The 23-year-old Doncic scored a record-breaking 60 points, 21 rebounds, and ten assists.
With his record-breaking performance, Doncic became the sixth player after Oscar Robertson, Harden, Russell Westbrook, Wilt Chamberlain and LeBron James to set a record for 50 points triple-double in the history of the NBA. Moreover, the Slovenian also became the youngest player to achieve the feat, breaking the form of the all-time great player Wilt Chamberlain.

Dončić of his scoring said: “We just saw it on the screen right now,” “We were watching NBA TV. I mean, it’s just incredible to be in those comparisons and just to be with those guys, at any stage. It’s amazing for me.”
Dončić, after the game, said: “I’m tired as hell,” “I need a recovery beer.”
Doncic, in the final seconds with the Mavericks down 115-113, intentionally missed a free throw, claimed a rebound and scored a jumper to force overtime. Doncic’s decision to purposefully missed a free throw became the highlight of his team’s win.
“I just threw it up, I was kind of lucky,” he admitted. “We were down, we came back, this is an amazing feeling.”

Doncic, for his record-setting performance, gets praised from across the league.
Mavericks owner Mark Cuban on Twitter wrote: “We are watching greatness. I’ve never seen anything like that ever,”
Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd about Dončić record-setting performance said: “Just with age, he has a birthday coming up here in the new year; I think he’s seen it all at the age of 23,” But just his competitiveness to win is at a very high level – and you saw that displayed tonight.”
Dallas Mavericks, who lie sixth in the Western Conference, had a fourth-straight win.
