Jon Brittenum played as a quarterback for the American football league for the San Diego chargers. The American footballer started his career as a quarterback for the University of Arkansas teams of 1965 and 1966. The Razorbacks won by 27-24 over Texas, in the first place that season. This made the team reach the top of the associated press top 25, and the entire credit was given to Brittenum for calling the plays. Jon Roger Brittenum, Sr. died on October 13, 2022, at his home in San Benito, Texas, at the age of 78. Brittenum was born in Brinkley on May 27, 1944. His parents, Patricia Torry Brittenum Roger Brittenum, and his older sister, Mollie Ruth Felts, mourn his death. Jon is survived by his beloved wife, Claudia Snow. His four children and their spouses, Jon Roger Brittenum, Julie Walters (Doug) of West Palm Beach, Fla., Jr. (Missy) of Fayetteville, Ark., Brice Torry Brittenum, Bret Torry Brittenum of Miami Lakes, Fla.
Jon graduated from Brinkley high school in 1962 and was offered an athletics scholarship where he chose to play football and quarterback for the Razorbacks in 1963, 1965 to 1966. In his autobiography, the head coach, Frank Royals wrote that Jon was the best passer in the move he had ever seen. Apart from playing football and doing classes, John was also quite active in the fellowship of the Christian athlete’s chapter at the University of our Arkansas in 1967. Jon graduated with a bachelor of science in business administration. He was a draft choice for the Miami Dolphins but was traded to the San Diego Chargers playing the 1967, to 68 seasons. After his football career ended, he raised, bred, and showed horses, one of the 1974 MCHA futurity.

The quarterback American football player achieved a lot of honors in his football career and, even after his football career ended, was a businessman who liked to invest and stay in the game. He invested first in banking and then into the gas industry, and in 2021, he was introduced into the Brinkley sports hall of fame and the University of Arkansas sports hall class of 20. After a very successful career that extended even after his football career ended, he moved to south Texas for some time because of health concerns. Brittenum died at the age of 78 due to CTE. He passed away on a Saturday morning on October 13, 2022. Jon struggled with CTE for a very long time which is chronic chromatic encephalopathy caused due to a head injury. He had those injuries while playing football.

Avenger and Will Grey shared time as quarterbacks in 1963. Jon earned a letter and redshirted in 1964. You, the team, got to win the national championship and started the next two seasons as a junior and senior. Jon received all Southwest conference recognition for both of those seasons. In 1965, Brittenum passed for 113 yards with seven interceptions and eight touchdowns for the squad, which also won all its games.
