New York Governor Hochul Urges Vaccination Based on Religious Grounds: ‘God Wants You To Be Vaccinated’

With only a day until the vaccine mandate for healthcare workers goes into effect in New York State, Gov. Kathy Hochul expressed some strong words for the unvaccinated on Sunday. Hochul delivered a talk at a ceremony at the Christian Cultural Center in Brooklyn, telling the congregation that God wants them to be vaccinated, The Western Journal reported.

Gov. Kathy Hochul has encouraged members of a Brooklyn church to “be her apostles” in promoting New York’s vaccination mandate agenda, claiming that unvaccinated people “aren’t listening to God and what God wants. In a message, she said Jesus taught us to love one another and to demonstrate that same love; she inspired fellow parishioners to get their vaccines as it is showing love and wanting them to live.

The state’s first female governor, who took office after former Gov. Andrew Cuomo resigned in disgrace after sexual harassment claims, claimed God had answered her prayers regarding the pandemic.

According to Hochul, God compelled the brightest men and women, scientists, doctors, and researchers to develop the vaccine. Hence, the vaccine is from God, and we must say our thanks to him, she added.  The governor ended her remarks by promising to apply the inspiration of God in her life and fight every single day as the governor and beyond,” according to the Journal, without referencing a single verse of the Scripture.

On September 13, a group of anonymous medical practitioners filed a complaint against the state, claiming that the legislature violated their constitutional rights when it imposed a vaccine mandate with no exemption for profound religious values.

The lawsuit dictates 17 plaintiffs objected to the COVID-19 vaccination on religious grounds since “they all involve fetal cell lines obtained from procured abortion in testing, development, or production of the vaccines.”

The mandate was subsequently temporarily suspended by the United States District Court for the Northern District of New York for individuals claiming a religious exemption. According to the New York Post, on October 12, a court will determine “whether to make the preliminary injunction more permanent.”

Regarding Monday’s mandate, Hochul announced on Saturday that the state might declare a State of Emergency in order to increase workforce supply and allow qualified health care professionals licensed in other states or countries, recent graduates, retired and formerly practicing health care professionals to practice in New York State.
