C.J. Stroud played every game for the Buckeyes, taking a break in week four against Akron to recover from a shoulder injury suffered in the season opener. Throughout the season, he earned first-team All-Big Ten honors, won Big Ten Quarterback of the Year, earned Big Ten Freshman of the Week six times, and was a finalist for the Davey O’Brien Award and the Heisman Trophy. Notably, Stroud made history as the only Ohio State quarterback to throw five touchdowns against a Big Ten competitor four times in the same season.
After a successful 2021 season, Stroud enters 2022 as one of college football’s standout players and a leading Heisman Trophy candidate. On October 8, 2022, he set a conference record by throwing six touchdown passes against Michigan State, his third game with six passing touchdowns in his career. The feat moved him into second place on the Ohio State career passing touchdowns list, passing Justin Fields.
On April 27, 2023, Stroud was selected by the Houston Texans as the second overall selection in the 2023 NFL Draft, making him the highest-drafted quarterback in Ohio State history.
CJ Stroud made his NFL debut on September 10, 2023, in Week 1 against the Baltimore Ravens, throwing for 242 yards in a 25–9 loss. During Week 2 against the Indianapolis Colts, he connected with Nico Collins and Tank Dale to record his first two NFL touchdowns, finishing with 384 passing yards in the 20–31 loss.
