Person of Interest Detained in Palmdale Sheriff’s Deputy Homicide Case

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department has arrested a person of interest in the death of Deputy Sheriff Joseph Solano. On September 18, 2023, Solano was shot and died while answering to a domestic violence incident in Palmdale. On September 19, 2023, the person of interest was apprehended. The name of the person of interest has not been revealed by the sheriff’s department. Or any other information about them right now.

The sheriff’s department is still investigating Solano’s death. Solano has been a sheriff’s deputy for 13 years. His wife and two children also survive him.

His passing triggered an outpouring of community support. A GoFundMe campaign also has been put up to help Solano’s family. In less than 24 hours, the page has raised more than $100,000.

On September 20, 2023, at 7:00 p.m., a vigil for Solano will be held at the sheriff’s department’s Palmdale station.

Though, Solano’s death serves as a reminder of the hazards that law enforcement officers face on a daily basis. They also risked their lives to safeguard the public, and we owe them our thanks.
