On Monday, April 18th, a series of tragic events unfolded in Tulsa, Oklahoma, leaving two people dead and several others injured. What Do We Know About Tulsa Library Shooting?

The Tulsa library shooting is all over the internet at the moment. The first shooting occurred at the Tulsa City County Library’s Central Library around 2:45 p.m. According to witnesses, a man entered the library and began shooting. Authorities later identified 40-year-old Zaven Collins as the suspect and charged him with two counts of first-degree murder, one count of shooting with intent to kill, and one count of first-degree robbery.

Collins was a former Tulsa football star and a first-round pick for the Arizona Cardinals in the 2021 NFL Draft. During the library shooting, one person was killed and three others were injured. The victim was identified as 56-year-old Francis Frazier. Frazier was a longtime library employee who had worked at the Tulsa City County Library for over 20 years. The three injured individuals were taken to a nearby hospital, where they are currently being treated for their injuries. Their conditions are unknown at this time.

The Culprits

After the Tulsa library shooting, Collins fled the scene and drove to a nearby convenience store. There, he reportedly shot and killed a second victim, identified as 42-year-old Braden Brown. Brown was an employee at the convenience store and was working at the time of the shooting. Collins was apprehended by Tulsa police a short time later and taken into custody. However, he is currently being held without bail at the Tulsa County Jail. The motive for the shootings is still under investigation, but police have stated that it does not appear to be a random act of violence.

Besides that, the statement read, “The Tulsa City-County Library family is heartbroken by the loss of our colleague and friend, Francis Frazier. Francis was a dedicated employee who always went above and beyond to help our patrons and support her colleagues. We also feel deep sadness for the injuries our other employees and patrons sustained and we pray for their swift and full recovery.”

Tulsa Mayor G.T. Bynum also released a statement, saying, “Our hearts are heavy with the news of this senseless tragedy. We offer our deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims, and we will do everything in our power to support them during this difficult time. We also want to express our gratitude to the brave law enforcement officers who quickly apprehended the suspect and prevented further harm.”
