Oshwin Andries was the captain of the South Africa Under-20 football team. The footballer passed away on Saturday due to a fatal injury.
Oshwin Andries Cause of Death:
A few days before his 20th birthday, Oshwin Andries was stabbed with a sharp object when he was attending a get-together in Klapmuts.
According to Lee-Irwin, Oshwin Andries was stabbed when he bantered with the attacker.
He stabbed Oshwin from the side repeatedly. He was taken to the hospital by his family, where he was declared dead.
There is no confirmed news whether the state wounds got infected, resulting in his death, or was there another cause. The police are investigating the death.
According to a source, he was present during the training sessions on Tuesday and Wednesday.
He seemed to be in good health. Oshwin passed away on February 4, Saturday, at 9:40 pm.
Who was Oshwin?
Oshwin Andries was a gifted young footballer. After graduating from SFC academy made his professional debut as an 18-year-old boy.
After the 3-1 home win against Royal AM on August 13, he became the club’s youngest goalscorer.
Andries took South Africa to third place during the Cosafa Under-20 Championship. He was also a part of the South Africa Under-23 squad.
During the 2021-2022 season, he played twice for Stellenbosch. Andries was the youngest player who scored for Stellenbosch.
Last year, Andries was awarded the Man of the Match award in the Under-20 AFCON Cosada qualifiers.
He scored two goals for the match. Many clubs and soccer bodies like Premier Soccer League and Cape Town City FC have come forward to pay tribute to the young footballer.
Oshwin Andries left the world too soon and will be missed dearly.
