Near Times Square, multiple NYPD officers were stabbed with machetes at New Year’s Eve

Trevor Bickford, A 19-year-old from Maine, was identified as the main suspect in the New Year’s Eve attack incident on the New York Police officers; The Police officers were busy finding the possible upcoming threat of terrorism, as told by the ABC News source. Multiple sources and ABC News identified the suspect as Trevor Bickford, 19 years old, from Wells, Maine. As informed by ABC News, Trevor Bickford went to New York on Dec. 29.

Talking to ABC news, law enforcement sources said that we are finding more about the incident are it is investigated as a case of terrorism; because the method of attack and online posting all indicate terrorism. Now FBI is working with NYPD to know more about the incident and investigate the attack, saying they will run and find everything from the beginning.

To know more about the Bickford, Federal and local law enforcement officers went to the suspect’s home in Wells on Sunday night, while the neighbours said that the area around Bickford’s home is usually tranquil. The attack happened eight blocks from Times Square after 10 P.M, just little outside of the high-security zone where revellers are screened for weapons.

After the incident, two police officers were hospitalized after the incident due to injuries; one had a bad cut, while the other had a skull fracture. But as of now, both are released from the hospital. Suspect Trevor Bickford was expected to recover soon. At the time of the attack, the sound of a gunshot was hardly heard by some people in the running crowd, but the incident did not affect the other activities in Time Square; they continued uninterrupted. 

Eric Adams, the Mayor, said in a news interaction that he had talked to both officers in the hospital. ” they both did an excellent job and saved many lives of New Yorkers”. While on the other side, the assistant director of the FBI’s New York field office, Michael Driscoll, said they genuinely believe that the attacker acted alone. Police found the diary in the suspect’s backpack; a law enforcement source told a News agency. As the last entry mentioned in the diary, the suspect would die in the attack and requested burial according to Islamic tradition, according to local news sources.
