A Florida sheriff’s deputy, Cpl Ray Hamilton was shot and murdered on Christmas Eve by a suspect, Mr Timothy Price Williams at around 9:00 in the morning. The victim and other deputies were trying to serve a warrant on a domestic violence charge.
According to the officials, The 43-year-old Timothy Price Williams on Saturday morning had slapped his wife on the face and plunged her during a heated argument the night before. He then took away her phone so that she could not call 911.
The deputies including Cpl Hamilton were trying to negotiate with the suspect to give up himself peacefully. The suspect then refused to come outside and eventually started shooting inside the house during which it strikes the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office deputy. Cpl Hamilton was then immediately taken to the hospital but was pronounced dead later on by his wounds.
After the shooting, the suspect came out of the house in a way that cause another deputy to fire on him. The suspect was shot in the right arm and was immediately taken for medical care in a nearby hospital. Timothy Price Williams was charged with first-degree premeditated murder over the death of Deputy, Cpl Ray Hamilton. The suspect’s medical treatment has now been transferred to jail.
Sherrif Eric Aden in a statement said- “We are devastated by the grief of losing Corporal Hamilton, a deputy who was a ray of sunshine in the OCSO, dedicated to protecting others,” He further adds- “We appreciate the endless stream of words of support that have come in for his family and his co-workers as we face this heartbreaking loss of a profoundly loved and respected friend, public servant, and hero.”
