The emergency services went to the Newcastle store but could not save her. SafeWork NSW and NSW Police are investigating her death.

She was from South Africa and was applying for Australian citizenship, having just passed her exam the days before her death. Malerato was working at Jasmond Central Woolworths in Newcastle, Australia, when she was stomped by reversing equipment.
