Last year, Stephanie Bonin, owner of a Denver restaurant, started a Change.org petition asking Congress to pass legislation providing a $2,000 payment for adults and $1,000 payment for children immediately and to continue regular checks for the duration of the crisis.
“Otherwise, laid-off workers, furloughed workers, the self-employed, and workers dealing with reduced hours will struggle to pay their rent or put food on the table.”
In March, eligible Americans received $1,400 in stimulus money from the federal government. During his first nine months in office, Former President Donald Trump issued two stimulus checks: The first round’s checks totaled $1,200, and the second round’s checks totaled $600, respectively.
The third round of the stimulus check has ended, and everyone may have used up all of the available resources. According to Forbes, those who are interested in knowing when the fourth round of stimulus checks will be distributed, or if there is even a fourth stimulus check, there is none.
As of Saturday, the petition had received more than 2,940,800 signatures, with approximately 44,000 new supporters joining in the last month. Families struggling to cope with the economic ramifications of the worsening pandemic reached peak levels of over 100,000 new supporters per week during the COVID-19 surge in the summer.

According to Business Insider, the petition demonstrates that there is widespread support for not only a single round of stimulus checks but also for recurring stimulus checks in the future. Bonin’s petition received so much support that it was included in Change.org’s list of the top ten petitions that changed 2020.
A senior citizens’ advocacy group has asked congressional lawmakers for a fourth stimulus check of $1,400 for an estimated 69 million Social Security recipients as that campaign approaches 3 million signatures, as per Newsweek.
An advocacy group, the Senior Citizen League, had written to Congress to request a stimulus check for Social Security recipients. The league stated in their letter that they believe a specific stimulus for Social Security recipients can help offset the higher costs that some of them will face. The campaign had begun in September, and a petition had been prepared by the campaign’s supporters as well.
More than 150 economists and 56 members of Congress have urged President Joe Biden to support annual stimulus payments this year. Only Democratic Reps. as per Newsweek, Cori Bush, Dwight Evans, Jamaal Bowman, and Pramila Jayapal voted in favor of the measure.
