The third round of the stimulus check is finished, and people may have already used it all. Some may wonder when the fourth round of stimulus checks will be distributed, or is there even a fourth stimulus check? Well, according to Forbes, no, there is none.
Struggling To Pay
Though some of the states, however, are issuing payments of their own. A group of 20 Democratic Senators has signed a letter asking for Biden to have additional aids for Americans and suggesting that it would be best to have a recurring direct payment instead of a one-time check.
According to CBS News, despite the financial assistance, millions of Americans are still financially distressed. About one-quarter of Americans have struggled to pay their household expenses the last two weeks of August.
With no potential fourth round of stimulus check, what will millions of Americans get now? According to a published article by BGR, several federal programs can help Americans in various ways.
Five Federal Programs
Aid for Homeowners and Renters
There is a $46.6 billion emergency aid for the rental assistance program in the Aid for Homeowners and Renters. As of a few months ago, only 7 percent of the relief has gone out, amounting to $3 billion out of $47 billion. According to Government Treasury, a person can qualify for this money if their income does not exceed 80 percent of their local area’s median income, and recipients must demonstrate a financial hardship stemming from the pandemic.
The same goes for the Federal Homeowners Assistance, where the money can be used as mortgage payments, homeowner’s insurance, and more. Homeowners are required to demonstrate financial hardships due to the pandemic.
Assistance for Food Workers
The Assistance for Food Workers will not come from IRS, but instead, they will come from the state agencies, tribal governments, and nonprofits. U.S. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack had announced this pandemic relief payment just a few months ago and has an effort of $700 million. Eligible people are farmworkers and meatpacking workforce that will receive one time $600. Grocery store workers will also receive help as $20 million from the $700 million will go to helping them.
Broadband Bills
The Money for Broadband Bills, where the Federal Communications Commission provides low-income households a temporary discount on broadband. An effort of $3.17 billion has been launched this year; however, as of now, only $600 million has been claimed. The program gives eligible households up to $50 off of their broadband bills.
Child Tax Credit
The Child Tax Credit, just last week the IRS had sent the fourth child tax credit check, and the payments delivered amounted to $15 billion to about 36 million U.S. families. These checks are for the parents, and the federal government has already sent three stand-alone stimulus checks during the pandemic.
