Sore Nose Soothing Balm Recipe This balm soothes a cold or flu-caused sore nose and prevents further irritation. First, infuse oil. Then, mix the infused oil with shea butter and beeswax to make nose balm.

Equipment – Small tins to put the finished balm in

Materials Herb Infused Oil (optional, but recommended) – 1 cup olive oil (or coconut oil) – 1 TBSP comfrey leaf – 1 TBSP dried plantain leaf (the herb, not the banana!) – 1 tsp calendula flowers (optional) – 1 tsp yarrow flowers (optional)

Nose Balm Ingredients – 1 TBSP herb-infused oil – 1 TBSP shea butter – 1 tsp beeswax pellets

Instructions – Place the oil in a double boiler. If using coconut oil, melt the oil first. – Add the herbs. -3-4 hours or until oil turns green from herbs. Too much heat or time burns herbs.Keeping herbs in oil for 2 to 3 weeks in a warm room. Indirect sun works.

– Let cool. – Store in an airtight container and use as needed.

To Make the Nose Balm --1 tablespoon infused oil, shea butter, and beeswax pastilles. – Melt over medium heat. – Stir and pour into tins or jars. Adaptable to doubling or tripling.

-- Apply a small amount around the nose with a clean spoon or fingernail. Do not reuse a dirty spoon or finger to avoid contamination. As needed until redness and pain disappear.
