Equipment – Saucepan – Small glass bowl – Pint size mason jar – Stand mixer with whisk attachment

Materials Oil phase – 2 tsp shea butter – 1 tsp jojoba oil – 2 TBSP grapeseed oil – 2 tsp emulsifying wax – 1½ tsp beeswax pellets Water phase – 2 TBSP distilled water – 5 tsp glycerin

Cool-down phase – 1 tsp niacinamide powder – ½ tsp leucidal complete preservative – 20 drops lavender essential oil

Instructions -In a glass bowl, combine oil phase ingredients. -Make a double boiler by placing a glass bowl on top of a half-filled saucepan. Melt ingredients over high heat, stirring occasionally. -While the oil-soluble ingredients cook, mix glycerin and water in a separate jar. Wait.

-Pour melted ingredients into the stand mixer bowl and freeze for 5 minutes. This should cool to room temperature, not freeze. Cooled oil mixture should be opaque and thicker.

-Turn on the whisk attachment on the stand mixer. Slowly add the water mixture and speed up to medium-high. -Once the mixture resembles lotion, add the cool-down ingredients and mix.
