Grain-free coating helped me make cheese sticks healthier. Almond flour worked well in other recipes, so I used it. Salt and Italian seasoning made it tasty.

Healthy Cheese Sticks Recipe A grain-free homemade take on mozzarella cheese sticks that uses almond flour for breading.

EQUIPMENT – Air fryer – Skillet

INGREDIENTS – 16 oz mozzarella cheese (a block of cheese, not shredded) – 3 eggs – 1 tsp water – 1½ cups almond flour – 2 tsp Italian seasoning – ½ tsp Himalayan salt Oil for frying – 1-2 cups tallow (or lard or coconut oil)

INSTRUCTIONS – Line a baking sheet with wax paper or parchment paper and set aside. – Cut the block of cheese into sticks. I like mine about ½” x ½” x 3”. – In a small bowl, whisk the eggs and water.

-Almond flour, Italian seasoning, and salt in a shallow dish. -Place the breaded cheese sticks on the prepared baking sheet. -Repeat step 1, dipping each cheese stick in beaten egg and almond flour. Cover the cheese or it will leak when cooked.

-Freeze the cheese sticks for 3-4 hours until frozen. -In a medium skillet, add 1 1/2 inches of tallow, lard, or coconut oil. -Heat the oil on medium-high. If almond flour bubbles and floats in hot oil, it's ready.

-Fry 3 or 4 cheese cubes at a time in hot oil until golden brown.- -Drain the fried cheese sticks on paper towels using a slotted spoon. -Fry remaining cheese sticks until done.
