‘A Black Lady Sketch Show’ Will Be Renewed

Issa Rae is executive producing the third season of A Black Lady Sketch Show, the Emmy-nominated sketch comedy series from Robin Thede. The announcement of the renewal comes only days before the Season 2 finale on Friday. Amy Gravitt, EVP, HBO Comedy Programming, remarked, “Robin continues to tread new ground in the realm of sketch comedy.” Her second season was funny, and now we can’t wait to see what Robin, Izsa Rae, and the A Black Lady Sketch Show staff have planned for Season 3.

Sketch comedy television has never been the same since Thede’s A Black Lady Sketch Show debuted. Season 2 brought back the same core ensemble of Black female characters, this time interacting in a mystical world that defies expectations.

Trailer Catches the Attention of Its Viewers

Seeing the sketch comedy crew’s crazy antics in action in the new teaser offers us a taste of what to expect from the show. With Robin Thede and Gabrielle Dennis of Netflix’s A Madea Homecoming previously working on The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore, Ashley Nicole Black of Full Frontal with Samantha Bee and Skye Townsend starring in the series. There are four main characters in the series and they perform a variety of roles in their sketches.

In addition to the main group, the new video shows off a slew of excellent guest performers. Ava DuVernay, Raven-Symoné, and Wanda Sykes are among the forty new guest performers appearing in the upcoming season. Additionally, Michaela Jaé Rodriguez, Kyla Pratt and Jemele Hill are among the other guest stars for season three, as well as David Alan Grier and Kel Mitchell, Michael Ealy, Wayne Brady and Bob the Drag Queen, as well as Vanessa Williams and Lance Reddick.
