According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, safety Xavier McKinney, a free agent who spent four seasons with the New York Giants, is now reportedly headed to the Green Bay Packers on a four-year, $68 million contract.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero, the Packers added running Josh Jacobs in free agency earlier on Monday.

Rudy Ford and Jonathan Owens, two more safeties who saw a lot of action last season, are also unrestricted free agents. As a result, the only returning safety with a contract was Anthony Johnson Jr., a rookie in the previous campaign.

This past season, the versatile McKinney, who has been utilized extensively as a deep safety and in the box, was the defensive captain for the New York Giants and recorded 100% of the team’s defensive snaps. With three interceptions, two fumble recoveries, and a career-high 116 total tackles, he concluded his play.

A foot injury kept McKinney, 24, out of most of his rookie season in 2020. He was selected early in the second round of the draft. Following an ATV accident in Cabo during the team’s bye week in 2022, he missed eight more games.

Over his first four seasons in the NFL, McKinney has made 49 appearances overall. 279 tackles, 9 interceptions, and 2 forced fumbles are his career totals.
