Russ Bray played darts for Hertfordshire at county level and later competed professionally. Together with Eric Bristow, he won doubles competitions in Norway and Finland.
Russ Bray also achieved a Guinness World Record by hitting the bullseye on a standard dartboard from 10 feet out on Blackpool’s North Pier. This beat the previous best of 9′ 6″ set by fellow PDC official Scott Gibling.
In November 2023, Russ Bray shared that he would retire after the 2024 PDC World Darts Championship but would remain involved with the PDC as an ambassador. His final televised ranking match was the 2024 World Finals, where Luke Humphries defeated Luke Littler for his first world title. In honor of his retirement, Bray was inducted into the PDC Hall of Fame by PDC Chief Executive Matt Porter.
