COVID-19 booster shots are recommended for those who qualify, said Graham Le Gros, an immunologist, and director of the research at the Malaghan Institute of Medical Research who believes the third dose of Pfizer really boosts people’s immunity, according to the New Zealand Herald.
Top Immunologist
A top immunologist at the Malaghan Institute of Medical Research, Graham Le Gros, said that booster shots could have a significant impact. He stated that when it comes to Pfizer’s vaccine, it appears that after receiving three doses, the person who receives it is given a robust immune response, which is very protective and resists the waning of immunity that we’ve seen in other countries.
If a person is taking immunosuppressive drugs or is older, they may not have had a strong enough immune response to two vaccine shots, and a third dose would bring your immune response up to where it should be so that you are protected, as per New Zealand Herald.

Pfizer Third Dose
According to New York Times, Pfizer-coronavirus BioNTech’s vaccine could be approved by FDA for all adults as early as Thursday, a move that could expand access to additional shots in the United States by millions, according to sources familiar with the agency’s plans.
As of Thursday, data from a large study released by Pfizer Inc and its German partner BioNTech SE showed that a booster dose of the COVID-19 vaccine developed by Pfizer and BioNTech was 95.6 percent effective against the coronavirus compared to a vaccinated group that didn’t receive the third shot, as per REUTERS.
People who received their second dose of the Pfizer vaccine more than six months ago will be able to get a booster shot starting November 29. On Friday, there will be a meeting with CDC’s independent committee of vaccine experts to talk about data on booster dose efficacy and safety. Although the FDA’s expert panel frequently met during the pandemic to review vaccine data and make recommendations ahead of a regulatory decision, it is expected to rule without consulting the panel itself.
