Build Back Better

According to President Joe Biden, there is no greater economic engine in the world than the American people’s hard work and ingenuity. However, for far too long, the economy has benefited the wealthy at the expense of middle-class families, as per White House. This time around, President Joe Biden promised to re-establish the middle class as the backbone of the country.

The House Build Back Better legislation would extend the Child Tax Credit by a significant amount through 2022. It would permanently extend the entire credit to children in families with low or no annual income, ensuring substantial child poverty reduction.

As a result of making the “fully refundable” Child Tax Credit available to low- and no-income families, the number of children living in poverty is expected to fall to historic lows. 27 million children in families with low or no income received less than the full Child Tax Credit or no credit at all before the Rescue Plan made the full Child Tax Credit fully available in 2021, as per CBPP.

Illegal Immigrants Could Receive

The Democrats’ social spending plan, the Build Back Better Act, includes a provision repealing the requirement for children to have a Social Security number to receive tax credits. Expanding child tax credits to illegal immigrant families who lack Social Security numbers would result from this change.

On behalf of their American-born children, illegal immigrants are able to claim benefits. Even illegal immigrants with children who are also present in the country illegally can now receive cash payments, including the approximately 600,000 unaccompanied minors and family units stopped at the border in FY2021 and released, stated by Steven Camarota, a Center for Immigration Studies researcher to Fox News.

Illegal immigrants could receive an additional $2.3 billion in child tax credits if the requirement is removed, according to Camarota’s calculations. He also predicts an $8.2 billion payout to illegal immigrants with U.S.-born children due to expanding child tax credits.
