James McCann, a star player of New York Mets, was traded to Baltimore Orioles, while Infielder Danny Mendick signed one year at a $1 million major league contract on Wednesday, as to some news source. According to the deal, The Mets will pay $19 million of the remaining $24.3 million on McCann’s contract to the Orioles and receive a player to be declared later. Through this deal, the Mets save $5 million in cash format and $655,000 for the upcoming two years to the team’s competitive balance tax payroll.

On the day of the deal, New York entered with three catchers, Francisco Alvarez, McCann, and Tomans Nido, on the event of 40 man roster. In this, they also signed a new free catcher Omar Narvaez, and this deal might be announced before Thursday. This season is not going well for Catcher McCann; he struggled throughout this season, hitting .195/.282/.282 in a total of 61 games. In the year 2022, he also suffered from two tiny injuries, one in a left oblique strain and another in a broken hamate bone on his left hand.

New York’s mate signed him for a total four-year contract for a $40.6 million deal; at that time, McCann was playing his full success with his current team Chicago White Sox. He helped his team to make American League All-star team in 2019 and continued his performance in the 2020 short season, hitting .289/.360/.536.

Baltimore has another plan to choose the McCann in their squad. They are planning to use skills of McCann in half its games this season, primarily against left-handed pitching. Because a starter Adley Rutschman is already a star, they have less than one season of service time. Despite their current form, McCann holds an excellent record; he played nine seasons with Detroit Tigers from 2014 to 2018. In his career, he played over 783 games, 78 home runs and .243/.296/.380 hitters and 316 RBIs. In 2019, he joined the White Sox and played for the Mets from 2021 to till now.

But surprisingly, White Sox was non-tendered Mendick while he spent his entire professional career with White Sox after being drafted in the 22nd round in 2015. This year he appeared in the 106 plates and hit .289/.343/.443 with 3 home runs and 15 RBIs. Second base, and third base Mendick played both corner outfield positions.
