On December 15, 2022, Ed Olkkola, Hyliion’s Chairman of the Board and initial investor, died. Aside from his contributions to the organisation, he was a friend and mentored me. I’m sure I won’t be the only one who misses him. The Hyliion crew and community will greatly miss him. We will pursue our goal of transforming the transportation sector, in which Ed had such a strong belief.
Who is Ed Olkkola?
Ed Olkkola was born in Georgetown, Texas, on December 13, 1959. Mr Olkkola was Hyliion’s inaugural board member, joining in 2016, and served as Chief Operating Officer from January to October 2018. Mr Olkkola died after a courageous struggle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. “Ed offered the Board and Hyliion his undivided attention and commitment. He created a leadership legacy and embraced the essential Hyliion ideals of honesty and making a difference in the world. He was an early investor in Hyliion and was instrumental in its development. “We are all grateful to have benefited from his experience and wisdom,” said Thomas Healy, the company’s founder and CEO.
The Career of Ed Olkkola:
Throughout his career, Mr Olkkola has served on over sixty boards. He introduced about a dozen new goods. He possessed patents in critical networking and communications fields, such as speech recognition, real-time signal processing for home networking, and high-speed digital network switching. Mr Olkkola has a successful career in investments and technology. He recently served as Managing Director at Teakwood Capital, leading private equity investment funds focused on micro-cap portfolio companies.

Ed died in Georgetown, Texas, on December 15, 2022. Edward E. Olkkola, 63, of Georgetown, TX, died on Thursday, December 15, 2022, surrounded by his loved ones, at his home in Georgetown, TX, after a gallant struggle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia.
