Officials disclosed more information Thursday on people discovered dead inside a Buffalo Grove home following a “domestic-related” incident, hours after making a tragic discovery. Officials had already confirmed that two children were among the victims. Still, they later released the identities and ages of all five people discovered during a well-being check in the northwest Chicago suburb. Andrei Kisliak, Vera Kisliak, Vivian Kisliak, Amilia Kisliak, and Lilia Kisliak were recognized. During a news conference on Thursday, police said an animal was also discovered dead inside the property. Investigators stayed on the scene Wednesday night and Thursday morning. According to officials, the Lake County Major Crimes Task Force is cooperating with the investigation.
What Happened To Them?
Autopsies revealed that four of the five persons died from “sharp force injuries,” according to Jennifer Banek. The fifth person’s autopsy was scheduled to be completed Thursday afternoon. Police said the inquiry was “extremely active and ongoing” and provided scant specifics about what happened inside the house. “Today is unfortunate for our community as we digest this unimaginable occurrence,” Buffalo Grove Police Chief Brian Budds said. Police were summoned to the home in the block of Acacia at about 11:12 a.m. Wednesday for a well-being check on an adult female. Police later found that a coworker requested one of the women in the home.
What Do the Officials Say?
They could not establish touch with anyone inside the house when they arrived. Officials said that after forcing their way into the house, they conducted a sweep that uncovered five deceased people. According to police, a preliminary investigation revealed that the event was domestic and that there was no threat. “As you can imagine, it’s awful and horrible,” Budds remarked. “You don’t have to train for that. Because of what we do, we are resilient, but nothing prepares you for that. It was a gruesome sight.”
Who are the Victims?
One of the children was a student at Elementary School, according to District 96 in Buffalo Grove, and the two children found deceased were siblings. In a letter to families, D96 Superintendent Kathryn Sheridan said, “Both girls were known to be bright and joyful children.” “Our thoughts are with everyone who knew them.” NBC 5 reports that several neighbours have seen police attend the residence on and off. “I grew up here, so it’s just so shocking for this to happen in a secure area where I grew up,” one neighbour told NBC 5. “It’s something I’m still trying to figure out. This is not how things should be, especially over the holidays.”
