Reporter Poppy Harlow is leaving CNN.Harlow, who has been with the organization starting around 2008, said in a note that she intends to invest more energy with family and will proceed “to help the development of news-casting all around I can while safeguarding the mankind in it.”
“I’m energized for the thing that’s coming down the road – and I will pull for CNN generally,” she said.
Harlow was tapped by previous organization President Chris Licht to have a patched up morning show with previous host Wear Lemon and individual anchor Kaitlan Collins.
Collins was subsequently chosen by Licht to have an early evening show on the organization when Lemon was terminated following a progression of contentions the previous spring. Licht was terminated by CNN’s parent organization the previous summer.
After Collins was moved, and both Licht and Lemon left the organization, Harlow facilitated “CNN Earlier today” with anchor Phil Mattingly.
“CNN Today” was dropped in February, and new organization manager Imprint Thompson moved Mattingly to a job as boss homegrown journalist.
The organization had conversations with Harlow about a possible new job, yet the anchor eventually chose to leave.
“The almost twenty years since have been a gift,” she wrote in an email to partners. “I have been enlivened by you and advanced such a great amount from you – who are (and will stay) dear companions.”
