WhatsApp and Instagram being unavailable

Meta-owned WhatsApp and Instagram have been restored following the global outage. The two communication apps services were down for several users across the globe beginning around 11.45 pm IST Wednesday. Users trying to log in to the Apps or WhatsApp web – the browser version – had an error message saying the service was unavailable.

During the outage, users were trying to log in to the browser version or the platform’s mobile app were faced with an error message. Users also could not send messages or use services like WhatsApp to make audio and video calls.
More than 17,000 incidents of users reporting issues with the messaging platform, news agency Reuters reported, citing Downdetector, which tracks outages by collating status reports from several sources, including user-submitted errors on its platform.
According to Reuters, more than 30,000 users in India, over 67,000 in the United Kingdom, and 95,000 in Brazil reported problems with the platform.
In March, Instagram, Facebook, and Threads were down for many users, who complained of suddenly logging out of their accounts.
Others reported being logged out without an option to log back in, while those with two-factor authentication struggled to get codes to complete their log-ins. The issue occurred on both the app and the website.
