Chelmsford Court ordered Stephen Bear to pay compensation to Georgia Harrison for releasing her sex tape

Chelmsford Court ordered Stephen Bear to pay compensation to Georgia Harrison for releasing her sex tape

Stephen Bear, age 34, uploaded footage of himself and Georgia Harrison, a Love Island personality, last year. For this, he was imprisoned for 21 months and released in January.
During a Proceeds of Crime Act hearing at Chelmsford Crown Court, he was released after being ordered to pay £5,000 in compensation to Miss Harrison. The £22,305 will be paid to HM Treasury and distributed to police charities.

The video made Bear earn a lot of subscribers and approximately £1,650.98. Bear’s OnlyFans account had 1,061 subscribers when he uploaded the video on 8 November 2020, the judge was previously told. This number had increased by 822 a month after the video, which could be viewed for $9.99 (£7.95), was published.
Ms Mackenzie told an earlier hearing that she calculated the £22,305.46 based on fees paid by viewers and based on the amount of subscribers he gained.

Judge Christopher Morgan said that the impact of the video on Miss Harrison’s life was devastating and changed her life completely. He also mentioned that the victim suffered a lot of financial crises during Bear’s criminal conduct, including losing work from brands and paying legal fees.

After this, Judge Morgan said that if this compensation would not be paid within three months or Bear did not requested extension, he would face nine months more of imprisonment.
Bear’s criminal trial heard that although the sex was consensual, Miss Harrison was unaware the footage, captured by a CCTV camera in Bear’s garden, was being shared more widely.
After the court hearing, Miss Harrison said nobody has the right to earn  money from such kind of sexual abuse. She also mentioned that these kinds of criminals should be punished by paying money and by the judicial system.
