Bernie Moreno won the Republican Senate primary in Ohio, securing the powerful endorsement of former President Donald J. Trump to become the Republican nominee in what could be the most important fight in the Senate this November.

As Moreno was wrapping up a campaign tour with two top Trump supporters and America First all-stars – Ohio Sen. JD Vance and Arizona Senate candidate and 2022 GOP gubernatorial nominee Kari Lake – Dolan was teaming up with two-term Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine, a former U.S. senator and state attorney general.

“The person who clearly has the best shot at winning in the fall is Matt Dolan,” DeWine told a gathering at a campaign event in Columbus, Ohio’s capital city, arguing that Dolan is the ideal candidate to face longstanding Democrat Sen. Sherrod Brown in November.
Frank LaRose, Ohio’s Secretary of State, is the third major candidate in the contest.
Meanwhile, Trump hopes to repeat his success in Ohio. Two years ago, the former president endorsed Vance in a crowded and acrimonious Republican Senate candidate battle, propelling him to win in the 2022 primary a few weeks later.
