Kacey Musgraves has always been about connection—connection to the planet, connection to her loved ones, and most importantly, connection to her fans—from Same Trailer Different Park to Golden Hour. During a private gathering organized by American Express last evening, the country music artist talked about the value of these relationships while talking about the creation of her upcoming sixth studio album, Deeper Well, which is available on iTunes.
Kacey Musgraves Deeper Well
Today’s release is Deeper Well. Recorded at the legendary Electric Lady Studios in New York, the 14-track album is “a collection songs I hold very dear to my heart,” Musgraves stated in an Instagram post last month revealing her most recent project. Musgraves recently made an appearance on Saturday Night Live, where she performed the tunes “Deeper Well” and “Too Good to be True,” both off her album Deeper Well.
The Texas native’s Deeper Well tour begins in Europe in April, and it will begin making stops in the United States in September. The tour begins in Dublin on April 28 and will include 44 dates around Europe and North America. A final show in Nashville on December 7th will bring it to an end.
Anime Eyes
Aside from “Anime Eyes.” The penultimate track on the album begins with a simple guitar pluck, much like the others. Like an anime character, Musgraves sings of how seeing her love causes her eyes to burst into hearts, like a million tiny stars. The song gradually intensifies, with an acoustic guitar solo, vocoder in the next chorus, and a drum beat in the second verse. And then, whoosh! As Musgraves fires through a litany of her emotions, the bridge erupts. We’ve been waiting 13 songs for this release, and wow, is it worth it.
